MH70I – Rugged Industrial PC with Intel Core i3 / i5 / i7

Modular, Built-to-Order Configuration

The MH70I is a modular application-ready industrial PC which meets the requirements of any industrial environment, e.g., control stations for industrial automation. The PC offers a multitude of configuration possibilities which are built to order resulting in a fast time-to-market. The system comes with complete software support.

The Intel Core i7-based system consists of a modular 40 HP CompactPCI system which can be wall or rack-mounted. The system can be cooled by natural convection or using an additional fan tray at the bottom of the system. Cooling is independent of the mounting position.

Redundant Power Supply

The pre-configured system offers two PSU slots to ensure reliability and redundancy. Normal operation is guaranteed if at least one external voltage is present. AC or DC power supplies can be implemented.

Large Range of Functions

Two CompactPCI peripheral slots and two CompactPCI Serial peripheral slots as well as 2 PCI or PCI Express slots can accommodate a large range of functions. If the 2 PCI or PCI Express slots are not required, two additional CompactPCI Serial peripheral slots are available.

Possible functions of the MH70I include binary and analog process I/O or motion counters as well as COMs and fieldbus functions such as CANopen, DeviceNet, Real-Time-Ethernet (EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, Modbus, POWERLINK, PROFINET, SERCOS, Varan) and PROFIBUS (master and slave for all functions).

The system always offers 2 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces at the front of the CPU board. For extending the Ethernet functionality, there is the possibility to implement up to 8 additional standard RJ45 or fiber optics Ethernet interfaces in the Compact PCI Serial slots.

PCI Express Mini cards for wireless functions such as WLAN and UMTS can also be provided. A SATA RAID can be built using up to four CompactPCI Serial hard disk carrier boards.

The two PCI or PCI Express slots can be equipped with half-length cards for further customized extension of the system.

MH70R – Main Server with Intel Xeon D for Railway Data Center

Variable Modular Concept

The MH70R is not a single standard product, it is rather a modular concept, which is available within a project context and therefore very flexible for use in various applications.

Main Server Unit and Centralized Platform

The MH70R main server unit acts as the central component of the railway data center. Several distributed functions are combined into a centralized platform, which reduces the amount of devices within the application environment.

Railway Data Center

The railway data center is the mobile office IT computer for virtually all non-vital train applications, e.g., PIS, media streaming, onboard internet or diagnosis server. It is a general purpose, modular platform. The hardware is solely based on standard technologies, supporting a flexible and scalable configuration of the end system with plug-and-play wireless communication channels, storage extensions, connectivity to other train computers, or I/O interfaces to sensors and actuators. Another standard system offered as part of a railway data center is, e.g., the MH70S data storage system.

High-Performance CPU, Virtualization and Security

The system is based on a high-performance Intel Xeon-D processor. Being an open virtualization platform, it supports Intel VT-x and VT-d technology to virtualize several functions, e.g., video surveillance or ticketing. The software can be developed without hardware which reduces the development time. It also supports a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) for security implemented through cryptography, as well as an error-correcting code (ECC) memory, board and system management control, and a watchdog timer to ensure reliability.

Modular Design

Based on a modular 40 HP CompactPCI Serial system, the MH70R can be wall or rack-mounted and offers a multitude of configuration possibilities resulting in a fast time-to-market.

For the concept, a high-performance, high-bandwidth multi-core CPU board offering 10 Gigabit and Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, legacy serial I/O such as RS232, and USB 3.0 interfaces is available. The most common wireless communication functions can be implemented in the MH70R via CompactPCI Serial peripheral boards, as well as hot-pluggable and easy to exchange HDD/SSD shuttles which allow easy maintenance in the field.

The system is cooled by using an additional fan tray at the bottom of the system. Cooling is independent of the mounting position.

D203 – M-Module Carrier Board for 4 Mezzanine Cards

The D203 is a 6U M-Module carrier board for universal I/O on the CompactPCI bus. It allows high flexibility in applications such as data acquisition or process control. You can install up to four M-Modules on the D203, which needs only one slot on the CompactPCI bus. All M-Modules are screwed tightly on the board and require no separately mounted transition panel.

The D203 offers developers immediate access to more than 70 different M-Modules for I/O in fields such as process I/O, measurement, instrumentation, motion control, communication, and development.
