G229 – USB 3.2, UART & M.2 SSD Interface Board

The MEN G229 is an I/O expansion board for CompactPCI Serial for adding often required functions to a CPU board on a single slot. It can be used, e.g., as a main boot device for a server CPU.

The board is designed and tested for the railway and industrial market. It provides 3 USB 3.2 Gen 1×1 ports and isolated RS232 and RS422/485 interfaces, for either service or continuous operation in a railway or industrial environment.

For data storage or as a boot medium an M.2 slot supporting NVMe is provided on the board. It provides a fast boot time as it is connected via a PCI Express x1 link.

The G229 is a low-power solution for the extended temperature range.

MH50C – duagon SAFE CONTROL Vital System Controller

MH50C is a central controller of the duagon SAFE CONTROL (d-SC) System. It is a modular system platform usable for safety-critical train applications like train control, automatic train operation (ATO) and automatic train protection (ATP) up to SIL 4 (EN5012x) or SIL3 (IEC61508).

Modular I/O Configuration

Being based on modular 40 HP CompactPCI, the system is always configured with a safe system CPU, a real-time Ethernet card, a power supply unit and a shelf controller. Other cards are added as built-to-order (BTO) options or by the user. The safe I/O cards support the common I/O requirements requested in trains.

The composition of safe CPU card, safe train I/Os and interfaces, such as MVB, CAN or serial interfaces to connect to legacy train equipment makes the controller ideal for use in safety-critical rolling stock applications.

Application-Ready, Open Platform

The MH50C is an application-ready, open platform. This means that the user adds his application based on the basic operating system and driver software.

Part of duagon SAFE CONTROL System

d-SC is a modular SIL 4 certifiable family of CompactPCI-based standard products usable for every kind of safety-critical railway application – from a single function to the main control system of the train. It can be configured to control anything in the train that requires functional safety with requirements from SIL 1 up to SIL 4.

d-SC communicates via standard real-time Ethernet and can be configured to interface to any type of consist fieldbus network like MVB, CANopen, Profinet etc. This makes it easy to integrate into a TCN network as well as into regionally different Train Control Systems like ETCS, CTCS, ATCS or Klub-U. The high level of flexibility of d-SC results in significant cost and time savings during computerization of the train.

Certification and Standards Compliance

d-SC components come with certification packages and complete support for the safe operating system QNX, including safe protocols, and provides the technical possibility to run a safety PLC, again saving cost and time for implementation and for certification of the final system. d-SC is developed according to EN 50128 and EN 50129 standards and complies with the environmental requirements for railway applications: temperature class TX, shock, vibration, humidity, dust, isolation, PSU hold-up times, EMC regulations etc.

Mounting and Cooling Options

The system can be wall or rack-mounted, and is cooled.

F305 – Quad Fast Ethernet & Real-Time Ethernet Interface Board

Fast Ethernet for Railway Applications

The F305 is a 3U CompactPCI 100-Mbit/s networking controller with a strong focus on railway applications. It comes in a compact 4 HP, one-slot width even with its rugged M12 connectors.

The card provides four Fast Ethernet channels, supporting full-duplex or half-duplex with 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX physical layers for distances up to 100 m.

As an assembly option, the board is available with or without a real-time Ethernet controller and extended connectivity, making it scalable to system requirements.

Real-Time Ethernet for menTCS

The F305 has a special function as the real-time Ethernet component inside the controller of the MEN Train Control System. menTCS is a platform to perform safe control functions, for example in rolling stock applications like Automated Train Operation (ATO) or Automated Train Protection (ATP). It usually consists of the MH50C menTCS controller system and safe remote I/O boxes.

Ring Topology

The distributed menTCS subsystems are connected via RT Ethernet in a ring, tolerating single failures.

For example, in case of a broken cable, the entire system is still fully operational, as all menTCS subsystems can still be reached from the other end of the ring.

The F305 offers the capability of short-connecting two front channels via software.

Access to System-Internal menTCS I/O Cards

In menTCS systems the F305 has a direct link to I/O cards on the same backplane, using the menTCS EBUS, power supply, and address lines. As the F305 itself has no special safety mechanisms and certification, the board must be considered as a black channel.

EN 50155 Rolling Stock and EN 50121-4 / EN 50125-3 Wayside Compliance

The F305 was fully designed to meet the requirements both for vehicle and wayside applications. Its operating temperature complies with the class TX specifications of -40 °C to +70 °C (10 minutes up to +85 °C). Standard boards include conformal coating.

Along with its railway standard compliance and long-term availability of a minimum 10 years, the F305 is a rail-ready component, saving time to market and costs.
