F26L – Embedded Single Board Computer with Intel Atom Processor E3900 Series

Low-Power Intel Atom CPU

The F26L low-power CPU board is a member of the scalable family of Intel CPU boards which ensures future-safety and long-term availability. It is equipped with an Intel Atom Processor E3900 Series dual-core or quad-core System-on-a-Chip (SoC). Due to the low power architecture on the Intel Atom processor, the CPU card has a total power consumption of max. 6.5 Watts to 12 Watts, while having a clock frequency of up to 1.6 GHz. An excellent graphics performance, thermal supervision of the processor and a watchdog for the operating system top off the functionality of the F26L. Furthermore, a Trusted Platform Module is assembled for security purposes.

Designed for Extreme Temperatures

The CompactPCI PlusIO board has been designed for applications with extreme temperatures, where high reliability and long-term availability are essential requirements. This kind of application is common in the rail market, in industrial automation and in the power and energy sector, for example. To fulfill these extreme temperature requirements, the F26L has been equipped with a specially outlined heat sink, which efficiently takes away the heat from the board.

CompactPCI PlusIO (PICMG 2.30)

The F26L supports the CompactPCI PlusIO (PICMG 2.30) specification, meaning it can be used in a hybrid system for control of both CompactPCI and CompactPCI Serial peripheral boards. Compliant to the standard, four USB 2.0, four PCI Express x1 as well as two Gigabit Ethernet interfaces are accessible on the J2 rear I/O connector.

Versatile Front I/O

The standard I/O available at the front panel of the F26L includes VGA, two Gigabit Ethernet and two USB 3.2 Gen 1×1 ports. The F26L can be extended by different side cards. Additional functions include a variety of different UARTs or another four USBs, SATA for hard disk connection and HD audio.

Linux and Windows Support

The F26L operates in Windows 10 and Linux environments as well as under real-time operating systems that support Intel’s multi-core architecture. The AMI UEFI BIOS was specially designed for embedded system applications.

Long-Term Availability

Long-term availability until 2031 minimizes life-cycle management by making the F26L available at least for this period of time.

F405 – Railway I/O Board – Data Acquisition & Control

Multiple I/O Functions and Status Indication

The F405 provides multiple I/O functions especially for Automatic Train Operation (ATO).

All digital inputs can be operated with common GND or common positive voltage in the range of -110 V to +110 V. The pulse counter inputs can be used to connect a speed sensor and provide frequency and distance measurement as well as direction, standstill and rolling detection as built-in functions which are all integrated in the FPGA.

The board’s high-side switching digital outputs support voltages in the range from 24 V to 110 V. The analog outputs provide the output value as voltage or as current. With their programmable cycle and pulse length, the PWM outputs are suitable for, e.g., engine power control.

The status of all inputs and outputs as well as the indication of OK and reset is shown via LEDs on the front panel.

Compact and Cost Saving

All I/O functions are located on one board and provided via one rugged I/O connector. This lowers the number of boards in the system, reducing system costs and minimizing the costs for maintenance and downtime.

Proven Components, Long-Term Availability

Due to its FPGA based design and the use of proven in use IP cores and hardware building blocks, the board provides reduced risk and effort as well as long-term availability.

Robustness and Safety Measures

The F405 provides safe and reliable operation. In case of software failures or host connection problems, the watchdog function sets the outputs to a default state. Reverse polarity protection, overcurrent protection and readback function make the digital outputs safe and robust in use.

Designed for Harsh Environments

The F405 is designed for operation in a -40°C to +85°C temperature range according to EN 50155 class TX. The coated board withstands shock and vibration for reliable operation and a longer product life-time.

Designed for Rail Applications

The F405 is especially designed for in-vehicle railway applications, can be used in all train types and is compliant with EN 50155. With a guaranteed standard life-time of 10 years from product start, F405 facilitates the client’s life-cycle management by making the overall system available at least for this period of time.

G101 – Fully Managed 29 Gbit/s Industrial Ethernet Switch, A-Coded

A Flexible Switch in a Common Modular Format

The G101 is a fully managed 3U flexible multiport Gigabit Switch, with a 29 GBit/s switch matrix, implemented as a CompactPCI Serial board. It occupies one system slot or one peripheral slot using a 4 HP front panel with two Gigabit Ethernet ports on RJ45 connectors and one 2.5 Gb SFP cage. Alternatively, the G101 can be supplied with three M12 A-coded connectors on the front panel. A good alternative for a version with M12 X-coded connectors is the G102. The intelligent backplane concept for MEN switches allows high flexibility in network applications and management.

High Speed, High Efficiency and Extensive Protocols

The G101 guarantees high speed, high efficiency and an extensive firmware supporting various protocols like security, time synchronicity, stability, as well as for temperature needs. The switch supports EEE (Energy Efficient Ethernet) and IEEE1588v2 as a standard on all ports.

Various Connection Possibilities due to Various Port Options

The G101 features three Ethernet ports on the front. Alternatively these are available on the rear, where a total of 24 ports is possible. These include 12 ports with integrated 10/100/1000 Mbit/s copper PHYs. For the configuration of additional ports controlled via the backplane MEN offers a number of different line cards. In addition, the G101 features a high performance port with up to 2.5 Gbit/s for an SFP pluggable module to support a high-speed uplink.

Increased Reliability thanks to Built-In Test Mechanisms

The switch is fault tolerant and restores itself on its own: If a link is temporarily unavailable, frames can be sent via backup/redundant links (spanning tree protocol/link aggregation) and no data loss occurs. Its built-in test mechanisms make the G101 an even more reliable component in the communication system.

Rugged and Compliant to Railway Standards

The railway Ethernet switch is specifically designed for rugged rolling-stock communication systems. It is fully compliant with the EN 50155 railway standard and qualified for a -40 °C to +85 °C operating temperature.
