G40A – Embedded Single Board Computer with ARM Cortex A72

The G40A is only available within a project context and cannot be ordered as a single standard product. It will require adaptation to the final solution. Please contact MEN’s sales team for assistance in your project.

Virtualization-Ready

The G40A is a high-performance 3U CompactPCI Serial multicore CPU platform equipped with the NXP ARM Cortex A72 LS1046A processor.

Featuring ARM core technologies and NXP data processing accelerators and I/O interfaces, G40A secures your application for the future by being full-virtualization ready – memory and I/O sub-systems can be virtualized – and available for 15 years from product introduction.

Wide Range of I/O, Network Connectivity

The G40A provides modern serial interface technologies such as PCI Express generation 3.0 (up to 8 Gbit/s), USB 3.2 Gen 1×1, SATA generation 3 (up to 6 Gbit/s). It is network connection ready by providing front Ethernet interfaces and an Ethernet switch. Nevertheless, compatibility with legacy interfaces is ensured with communications interfaces such as UART, I2C, SPI, etc.

Board Supervision and Management

The G40A is monitored using an MEN proprietary board management controller (BMC) which controls parameters such as voltages, temperature and provides a user configurable watchdog, making it ready for applications where functional safety is required. It supports low-power mode to enable Wake-on-LAN when the board’s power supply is off.

Extensive Memory

The memory configuration of the G40A includes a fast DDR4 DRAM with ECC soldered to the board to guarantee optimum shock and vibration resistance. A non-volatile SRAM, an eMMC NAND Flash device and a microSD card can also be assembled offering space for user applications or usable as a local boot medium.

Perfect for Harsh Environments

With small 3U dimensions, G40A is perfectly suited for use in harsh environments, making it an ideal solution where space is limited but high processing capabilities are needed, e.g. in data collection applications on board trains. The board can be ordered in a version which enables fanless operation.

The G40A comes with a tailored heat sink. All components are soldered for protection against shock and vibration according to applicable railway standards. The G40A is also coated so that it can be used in humid and dusty environments.

G504 – NVMe SSD Rapid Storage Shuttle

Ultrafast NVMe SSD

The G504 is a CompactPCI Serial solid state drive shuttle. It is designed as a carrier board for a 2.5″ NVMe SSD U.2 with ultra high data bandwidth for rapid data transfer. It is also possible to equip the G504 with an NVMe SSD M.2.

The solid state drive is intended to be used as first level storage, e.g., for buffering control data while they are analyzed.

Front Panel Status LEDs

The unit’s front panel features two status LEDs signalizing power and activity.

Suitable for Various Application Areas

The G504 is suitable for, e.g., automation or power and energy applications.

Its compliance with the EN 50155 standard makes the board suitable for use in railway applications.

GE1 – 4-Port Gigabit Copper Ethernet Line Card with PoE

The GE1 is a 3U Gigabit Ethernet line card, with optional PoE support, implemented as a CompactPCI Serial board. It occupies one peripheral slot using a 4 HP front panel with four Gigabit Ethernet ports on RJ45 connectors. Alternatively, the GE1 can be supplied with four M12 connectors on the front panel (X-coded variants in preparation).

The GE1 is designed to work in combination with various Ethernet switches, routers and CPU boards available from duagon, including the G101 CompactPCI Serial managed industrial Ethernet switch. A special backplane is required which is available from duagon.

The GE1 features four connectors on the front panel, which can also be used to create 4 ports of copper Gigabit Ethernet, and one Gigabit Ethernet connection directly to the backplane. In addition, the card can act as Power over Ethernet (PoE) Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE), supplying other devices on all ports with power. Each interface supports a data transfer rate of 1 Gbit/s, and provides two LEDs to indicate the link and activity status.

The GE1 operates with a primary voltage supply of +12 V, which is provided via the rear CompactPCI serial connector. All additional required voltages are generated onboard. It is fully compliant with the EN 50155 railway standard, qualified for a -40 to +85°C operation temperature and ready for coating.
