CUE-BALLAD

Proven and reliable, RS-232 stays a popular point-to-point low power communication interface.
The CUE-BALLAD is a peripheral slot card for CompactPCI® systems, equipped with four front panel RS-232 ports, available through RJ45 jacks. Isolation barrier transceivers are provided for optimum noise and EMC immunity up to 460kbps data rate, as required for industrial use and operation in harsh environments.

The CUE-BALLAD is based on an octal PCI Express® to UART bridge. The 950-style UARTs are compatible with many asynchronous serial applications and protocols. While four ports are available via RJ45 front panel jacks across isolated transceivers conforming to TIA/EIA-232-E and ITU-T V.28 specifications, another four UART channels are wired to the CompactPCI® backplane connector J2, as TTL level signals for rear I/O usage up to 15Mbps data rate per port.

CUD-TWIST

Proven and reliable, RS-485 (EIA/TIA-485) stays a popular fieldbus communication interface, due to simple installation via low cost twisted pair copper cables, up to 1200m length.
The CUD-TWIST is a peripheral slot card for CompactPCI® systems, equipped with four isolated front panel RS-485 ports. High speed RS-485 balanced line transceivers with internal 5kV isolation barrier provide for optimum noise and EMC immunity.

The CUD-TWIST is equipped with an octal PCI Express® to UART bridge. The 950-style UARTs are compatible with many asynchronous serial applications and protocols. Four isolated EIA/TIA-485 transceivers are wired to RJ45 front panel jacks, individually configurable for full-duplex operation (4+1 wire cable) or half-duplex (2+1 wire cable), either point-to-point or multipoint applications. Another four UART channels are wired to the CompactPCI® backplane connector J2 for rear I/O usage.

NH30 – Rugged Half 19″ Modular Managed Gigabit Ethernet Switch

Designed for use in trains, mass transit or industrial environments, MEN’s robust NH30 29-Gigabit Ethernet switch offers carrier grade Layer 2 and Layer 3 VLAN routing capabilities. The pre-configured CompactPCI Serial NH30, which comes in a half 19-inch format, is an additional member of the modular, built-to-order system family from MEN. Redundant power supplies, PoE+ support and self-monitoring make the switch a reliable, flexible long-term solution.

Based on MEN’s functional, built-to-order concept, this high-performance Ethernet switch provides a wide range of configuration options for use in several harsh and mobile applications. The switch’s simple system integration and elimination of expensive specialized software ensures a fast time-to-market, while reducing acquisition, operating and maintenance costs.

The NH30 supports a total of 25 ports at the front. The system can be configured with up to six line cards as either active or passive copper connections, or as SFP interfaces. In addition, the ports have PoE+ to enable the connection of different devices, e.g., a camera with a maximum of 60 W.

Pre-installed carrier-grade, managed firmware from Vitesse supports almost all popular protocols on the market, including standard ring and protection switching/ring protocols.

The reliable NH30 Ethernet switch has self-control and self-monitoring capabilities. It manages lifetime information about critical operating components, such as the shelf fans and power supplies, and can be used for manual shutdown. For security and monitoring purposes, the shelf controller data is available via network interfaces and CLI.

Two AC or DC power supplies ensure reliability and redundancy. When used with one of the power supplies, an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) can protect the system against power fluctuations.
All of these factors make the modular, managed 29 GBit Ethernet switch ideal for mobile communication in harsh environments, where reliability, flexibility and cost minimization play an ever increasing role.
