Entry Level Platform for Prototypes and AMC Developers

The MicroTCA starter kit is based entirely on off-the-shelf MicroTCA components. For details of the components, pls. refer to the respective data sheets and manual. This MicroTCA starter kit represents an entry level system with suitable options for AMC processor modules in combination with the AMC developer’s-package, and easy IPMI systems configuration through the OMVIU MicroTCA Management Software.

OM5080

2U Carrier Grade AMC Platform
The OM5080 is driven by simplicity. Keeping it simple eiminates cost drivers and provides a cost efficient and most compact design. Implementing system management in software on the carrier boards allows eliminating extra components for shelf management, MCH and Power Modules. The use of Uplink Modules provides high uplink capacities comparable only with bigger ATCA solutions, without the need for ATCA hubs or complex MCHs.
Efficient cooling is achieved by a push-pull arrangement of dual fans, which are controlled by system management. In combination with the 2U form factor it allows the use of a powerful cooling at performance levels beyond the scope of front cooled 1U or 2U servers.
The OM5080 provides an entry level solution for professional AdvancedMC technology. It facilitates software developments and developments of AMCs. In addition to the basic OM5080 system Kontron also provides a choice of qualified AMCs, and validation of customer selected AMCs in its labs.

AM4904/AM4910

High-End MicroTCA Carrier Hub (MCH) with Enterprise Class Ethernet Switching
The Enterprise-Class AM4904 / AM4910 MCH provides the central management and data switching entity for all kind of MicroTCA platforms.
To fit to the different needs of various applications the AM4904/AM4910 comes in four versions, (1) as a pure Gigabit Ethernet switching MCH (AM4904-BASE), in combination with (2) sRIO (AM4904-SRIO), or (3) PCIe switching (AM4904-PCIE) and (4) the highest bandwidth offering 10 Gigabit Ethernet switching (AM4910).
The powerful 600MHz processor for MCMC functionality and switching management enables a highly efficient MCH implementation for up to 12 AMCs, 2 cooling units and 4 power units and for usage in applications requiring a redundant architecture. Furthermore the support of Rear I/O functionality according to MTCA.4 is implemented. A sophisticated clock implementation supports various Telco clocks and the PCI Express Fabric Clocking distribution.

Designed to support Enterprise-Class fully-managed Layer2 switching capabilities the AM4904/AM4910 provides Quality-of-Service functionality like Traffic Priorization, Access Control and Multi-Cast including full 4K VLAN, Link Aggregation – to name just a few. The Layer3 management capabilities can be offered on project request.
