The Fan Controller (FanCon) is a platform independent system monitoring unit which monitors and if applicable controls the parameters, such as temperature and fan rotation speed, of a basic system. The centrepiece is an 8-bit microcontroller with an integrated 10-bit A/D converter and a corresponding peripheral circuit.
These parameters will be measured or read in and evaluated in periodic cycles. An alarm is being triggered if the temperature or fan rotation speed exceed or lie below the limit values. At the same time the fans are controlled to maximum rotation speed.
The measured values are at all times retrievable via serial RS232 interface and I2C interface. During operation limits and system parameters can be changed at all times via RS232 interface. Optional it is possible to connect a 2×16 character LCD-display for displaying the measured data.
