FREMONT, Calif., January 2014 –The Board of Directors of the Elma Electronic Group announced the appointment of Shan Morgan as President of Elma Electronic Inc. effective January 1st, 2014. Shan succeeds Fred Ruegg, who became CEO of the Elma Group in September 2013.
Prior to this appointment, Morgan was senior vice president of sales & marketing for the Systems group and, since 2005, was also general manager of Optima Stantron. Optima Stantron is the cabinet enclosure unit of Elma that was acquired in 2004.
“We are pleased that Shan has accepted this leadership role,” said Fred Ruegg, CEO of the Elma Group. “His vast experience in driving Elma’s sales direction has helped to bring our company to its current leadership position in the packaging and embedded computing industry. His strategic vision and diligence is sure to guide the company to even greater success.”
Since joining Elma in 1989, Morgan has been instrumental in growing the company in several critical market areas including the packaging industry and embedded computing. His engineering background and extensive experience makes him a well-respected industry expert in enclosure design, EMC, shock and vibration and thermal management.
“Under the expert watch of Fred Ruegg, Elma has grown significantly in the last ten years into a full service, comprehensive hardware and embedded computing solutions company,” said Morgan. “I am looking forward to bringing the company to its next level of success, ensuring that we continue to deliver highly integrated solutions to fit our customers’ needs.”
Fred Ruegg launched Elma Electronic Inc. in the United States in January 1986. Initially, the focus was on the well-known Elma electronic packaging components and rotary switches. The company quickly expanded into assembled chassis and backplanes and, through acquisitions, added electronic cabinet manufacturing and system integration.
Today, Elma operates four manufacturing facilities in the United States and has become a leading company in the electronic enclosure and embedded computing arena.
