AMC Data Processing and telecommunication Module

The AMC-based Controller (DAMC-TCK7) board is a general purpose high-performance low-latency data processing unit designed according to the PICMG MTCA.4 spec. The module provides processing power, data memory, communication links and reference clock signals. The module was originally designed as a LLRF (Low Level Radio Frequency) cavity field stabilizing controller for standing-wave linear accelerators. However, the application of the board is much wider for systems requiring low latency and high speed digital signal processing.
The Xilinx FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) device available on the DAMC-TCK7 board delivers a computing power and memory for low-latency digital signal processing. The FPGA supports a number of Low Latency Links (LLLs) available on the front panel, at the backplane and a Rear Transition Module (RTM) Zone 3 connector, working with a few Gigabits throughput.
Since the control algorithms could be improved with time, the device supports in system firmware upgrade, using IPMI and fast serial link.

RTM 4 channel Piezo driver

The 4-channel Piezo Driver is a general purpose Rear Transition Module (RTM) board compliant to the MTCA.4 standard. The module supports simultaneous driving and sensing of 4 piezo elements that can be used as actuators and sensors. The actuator and sensor functionality can be exchanged remotely using relayswitches. Driving signal is grounded whenever interlock signal is active. Small signal bandwidth of the piezo driver is in ragne of 80 kHz when driving pure capacitance load of order of 1 μF with output voltage signal level of order of 0.5 Vpp. Piezoelectric elements can be powered using unipolar or bipolar power supply provided internal or externally.

RTM-μPZT4 module offers sampling rate of driving and sensing circuits up to 200 kSPS per channel. The most critical circuits are monitored using general purpose ADCs and temperature sensors. The rear transition management is compliant to the latest recommendation MMC V1.0.

The DAMC-FMC20 is a cost-efficient FPGA mezzanine card (FMC) carrier designed according to MTCA.4. It is equipped with two Spartan-6 FPGAs. The carrier simultaneously supports one low pin count and one high pin count FMC module. One FPGA allows serial high-speed communication (PCIe, RTM, Backplane, FMCs). The other FPGA allows implementing large signal processing algorithms. The carrier supports one serial link (GTP)
for each FMC module and in addition an extra 12V power connector for high current FMC applications. It provides one PCIe link that is AMC.1 type 1 compliant. The carrier is software-reconfigurable over PCIe and MMC. The AMC ports 12-15 are connected via cross-point switch to the FPGA. The carrier management is compliant to the latest recommendation MMC V1.0. The carrier Zone 3 is compliant to the Class D1.0.
